Every 21 Seconds someone you know and Love is Diagnosed
I have been in denial about my diabetes for many years but the callous on my foot got me thinking about what happened to my dad. My dad has been a diabetic for as long as I can remember. His mother was also a Type II diabetic. So much for missing the genetic pool on that one :)
Several years ago he was working in a convention center. He was moving one of the walls and the wall ran over his foot. He never felt it. He didn't even realize he had broken several toes until he got home and removed his shoe. Fortunately for him, he was in great care and to this day still has his toes.
I could not fathom how someone who ran his toes over could not feel it. But that is what happens with diabetic neuropathy. The nerves die and your not even away they are dying.
Yes, there are some tale-tell signs like burning, itching, soreness and a few other general symptoms. And that's the problem. They are general and slow to develop. If your a diabetic don't dismiss these symptoms. If you find yourself with these symtoms---get them checked out by your primary MD or a podiatrist.
I may be in denial about my diabetes but I'm not in denial about the wonderful work the American Diabetic Association provides. Recently, BeachBody and Kathy Smith joined the American Diabetic Association to alleviate diabetes. Together they have developed a wonderful 12 week program that anyone can follow.
Every 21 seconds someone is diagnosed with Diabetes.

What Do you DO?
Defining the intention. To define an intention is to listen with all of our senses. When you are listening with all your senses you are able to pick up on clues on what the other person is really saying. Imagine, standing eye to eye. Observe their behavior. Are they shifting around, do they keep good eye contact, do they stut and stammer during the conversation? Are they sweating, coughing, or even yawning? Are they looking away? Are they shuffling their feet? Maybe they are in a stance of what I call Big Dawg, Little Dawg...the stance that I am bigger than you so you better back down.
These clues of intention all dictate how you will answer the question "What do you do?"
Setting your filters. Your response to the question will be further filtered by a myriad of thoughts, feelings and past experiences. You are what you think is far more appropriate than you are what you eat. Our minds have an amazing ability to take any moment in our lives and filter our responses without us even realizing it is happening.
Observe your clues of intention. What clues are your giving to the other person? Are you maintaining eye contact? Do you shuffle about? Are you even interested in what the other person is saying or are you ready to respond with your next question?
Amazing that all this occurs within nanoseconds.
Interesting topic for reflection and consideration the next time someone asks you "What do you do?"

Once Upon a Time
I took a self inventory. My options were limited. Go back to school or face the reality of welfare and food stamps to support my children. Somewhere along the way I had told myself that I couldn’t make it in college. Only smart people go to school and I knew my grades from high school weren’t that wonderful.
After many false starts, I finally made the move to go back to school. I worked full-time, raised a husband, two kids and attended school full time. I was not a 5 year senior. I graduated with honors in 4 years with my Bachelors of Science in Nursing.
I soon realized that I had just traded a lower paying job for a higher paying one. I still wasn’t home with my kids as much as I wanted. I had to work weekends and evenings, holidays and birthdays. I had to pull teeth to get people to trade shifts so I could make it to my kids’ events.
Through it all I lost my own personal quest for growth and my health was declining. My life appeared on the surface to be just fine but inside I was spinning out of control. And to top it all off, I came to an understanding that trading time for dollars was not going to be my ticket to financial security, let alone freedom.
I had a V-8 moment when 2 things happened almost simultaneously in my life. 1) My husband joined a network marketing company & 2) I began to learn about the Law of Attraction.
In college, I learned to compare and contrast and the use of a Venn diagram to visually see the differences and similarities between 2 ideas or objects. Trust me; it didn’t take someone with a Bachelors degree to soon realize that the two have way more in common than in difference.
- All things are possible
- You have to believe to see
- What you think about you bring about
- Your inner beliefs bring about your outer reality
- Thoughts + Feelings + Actions = Reality
- Personal growth leads to growth in all areas of our lives
- We are all connected in one way or another
- Assist enough people in getting what they want and you will get what you want
My vision is women empowering women (single, married or divorced) who desire personal growth, financial freedom and/ or time freedom through the vehicle of network marketing.
Jim Rohn stated he was challenged to become a millionaire, not for the money but for what he would become along the way. So True!
